Description:
This course considers the history of American women from the colonial era to Seneca Falls Convention. We will examine the experiences of women of different races and classe across the country, looking at Puritans in Massachusetts and at planters' daughters in the Carolinas; at female slaves in the deep South and at mill workers in the urban North. We will investigate the impact of the American Revolution movement, culminating in the convention at Seneca Falls. Part of the women and gender studies concentration and minor. May also be taken as an elective. Cross-listed with history, 0507-401. Class 4, Credit 4 (offered annually)
