A study of the economics of the public sector. Topics include, but are not limited to: taxation and public expenditures and their effect on the allocation of resources, distribution of income, and employment; market failure; public goods; the economics of public choice; and the application of public finance principles and normative questions to public economic issues. Part of the economics concentration and minor. May also be taken as an elective. (0511-211 and 0511-402) Class 4, Credit 4 (offered occasionally)
