| This course analyzes continuity and change in the way work is organized, performed and experienced within national and global contexts. Major sociological perspectives on work are examined and applied to areas such as workplace and occupational culture, the experience of work as satisfying and alienating, occupational change, unions and union busting, health and safety, labor law, and social stratification at work. Interrelations between work and other social institutions, such as family, economy, polity, leisure and education, are examined. Part of the sociology/anthropology concentration and minor. May also be taken as an elective. (0510-210, 0515-210 or equivalent) Class 4, Credit 4 (offered annually) |
