Description: |
| This course will examine GIS applications in urban and community studies such as spatial analysis at individual and household levels, spatial analysis of ethnic neighborhoods with census data, as well as spatial perspectives and analytical frameworks in urban research and the role of spatial analysis in demographic research. This course includes an introduction to GIS technology where in-class lab projects are designed to teach the student to assess spatial and temporal data in solving urban and community planning problems. Prerequisites: data analysis I and II and either cultural anthropology or foundations of sociology. Part of the material culture science concentration and may be taken as an elective.
